FLOYD REED SMITH passed away suddenly at home on Friday, March 26, 2010, beloved husband of Rula Smith of Hill Spring. He was born in Cardston, Alberta June 4, 1926 to Frank Reed and Fern Wood Smith. He grew up and attended school in Cardston, graduating from high school there. He served a mission for the LDS church in the Samoan Islands from 1947-1950. After returning home he and his cousin Bryan attended Utah State Agricultural college in Logan, Utah for a semester, then decided hands on experience was better and came home to the farm in Hill Spring with his brother, Wayne. Floyd loved farming, was an excellent farmer and a hard worker.

In 1951 he married Rula Butler in the Alberta Temple. Their family consists of 6 children, Kendall (deceased) Sharon, Lori (John)Merrill, Jeanette (Pete) de Graaf, Vince (Rylan and Hollie), Sheridan (Barb), Brock (Jacquie), daughter in law, Linda Smith, 18 grandchildren and 12 great grand children. Home and family were his top priority. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.

His life was full of service in both church and community. He loved his 19 years as an ordinance worker in the Alberta Temple. He served as a councillor in MD of Cardston for 16 years.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife Rula, 5 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Wayne and Edward (Ted). He was predeceased by his son, Kendall, his parents, parents in law and special cousins, Bryan and Howard.

The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hill Spring, Alberta on Thursday, April 1st , 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Craig Smith Officiating. Friends may meet the family at the Church on Thursday April 1st , 2010 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service. Interment in the Hill Spring Cemetery.
